Walk the Clarksburg Branch Line Trail, a former rail line converted to a trail of crushed stone. This walk will take you past a tranquil pond and continues on a quiet and scenic trail with views of mature native oak trees and open-space fields that stretch to the Sacramento River. Clarksburg is named after Judge Robert C Clark who came to California in 1852 after receiving his education in Ohio and Kentucky and practicing law in St Louis. In 1858, he was elected judge and was so well loved and respected by the populace that he continued to hold the office against all other candidates for twenty consecutive years. Judge Clark achieved a splendid reputation for his sense of justice while on the bench; and, in his twenty years of service only had one case that was reversed on appeal to the Supreme Court.  Restrooms available at the start and at the Nugget Market.  There are also restrooms at Memorial Park as indicated in step 10 on the walk directions.  The trail is now paved for 1 1/2 miles, then the walk continues with crushed stone. CA Counties: Yolo. (5k = 3.1 miles, 10k = 6.2 miles).  Alternate POC: Barbara Nuss, (916) 283-4650, nussb@surewest.net
