This route consists of two loops, the first loop is 5k with an optional 1k loop, the second loop is 6k. Enjoy the peacefulness of paved paths along Elk Grove Creek’s seasonal watershed; home to salamanders, turtles, frogs, egrets, great blue herons, and the endangered Swainson’s hawk. Also explore Elk Grove’s new Rain Garden; the first of its kind in California designed to promote water conservation and showcase native, drought-resistant plants. This route is in its prime late winter through spring when the creek and ponds are at their fullest and wildlife is at its peak. There is an optional 1k loop to the top of the new bike bridge over Hwy 99, rated 2A.
