Elk Grove Old Town
Description:
The route passes through several lovely neighborhoods on its way to the Historic District of Elk Grove. The District is an enjoyable stretch traveling down Elk Grove's Historic Main Street and passes dozens of buildings of historical significance, the oldest dating back to 1876. Locals to this area will recognize the names of notable families, such as Rhoades, Markofer, Beattie, and Foulks, who once lived and worked on this street. There are plenty of antique stores, gift shops, saloons, and restaurants to explore and enjoy. This route also contains an optional 5k loop that takes you to the 127-acre Elk Grove Regional Park which has been a local gathering place since the late 1800's and contains many big, beautiful oak trees, picnic areas, and the Elk Grove Historical Society's Hotel and Stage Stop Museum.
